Through strategic alliance with the Fondazione Bruno Kessler in Trento, the MIT Mobile Experience Lab is working on advanced research into sustainable connected homes, including renewable energy systems, sustainable architecture, social sustainability, and connected information systems to optimize home behavior and peoples’ lives in ways that conserve environmental resources.

Within the alliance, partners aim to build a prototype of a sustainable connected home with new information and communication technologies, materials, and applications that open a new path to planning for urban environmental sustainable development.

As part of this project, partners will research sustainable urban planning and explore the design of technologies that will foster sustainable development throughout all sectors of society. The project takes a holistic approach to green design, integrating urban planning, sustainable architecture, renewable energy, smart transportation, and the poetics of daily life to bring a vision of ecological sustainability to life.

Fondazione Bruno Kessler

Fondazione Bruno Kessler is situated in Trentino, a province in northern Italy governed under a special autonomy statute. The foundation, with more than 350 researchers, conducts studies in the areas of Information Technology, Materials and Microsystems, Italo-Germanic studies, and Religious sciences.

Thanks to a close network of alliances and collaborations, FBK also conducts research in theoretical nuclear physics, networking and telecommunications, and social sciences (studies of public policy effectiveness).
