Abstract

The MIT Mobile Experience Lab, within the Design Laboratory, signed a 3 years strategic alliance with the Fondazione Bruno Kessler on July 2008. The goal of the Alliance is to advanced research in sustainable connected homes, including subtopics of renewable energy systems, sustainable architecture, and also social sustainability and connected information system to optimize home behavior and peoples' life. At the end of the project, we want to build a full-scale prototype of a sustainable home with new technologies, materials, and applications. The MIT Mobile Experience Lab focuses on radically reinventing and creatively designing connections between people, information and physical places to improve people's lives through meaningful experiences. With a multidisciplinary team, we research and design new technologies along with their impact in societies, spaces and communities.

Short Biography

Federico Casalegno is presently director of the MIT Mobile Experience Laboratory [mobile.mit.edu] and associate director of the MIT Design Laboratory. He has been working as research scientist at the MIT Media Lab, Smart Cities group, and worked at Motorola Inc., USA, as technology and product innovation analyst, designing pioneering products, experiences and services for mobile devices business. Dr. Federico Casalegno is a social scientist with interest on the impact of networked digital technologies in human behavior and societies. He teaches and research at the MIT, rethinking and designing interactive media to foster connections between people, ideas and physical places using cutting edge information technologies. He holds a Ph.D. in Sociology of Culture and
Communication from the Sorbonne University, Paris V (July 2000), with a focus on mediated communication and social interaction in networked communities and wired cities.

Sommario

MIT Mobile Experience Lab, nell’ambito del Laboratorio di Design, ha firmato un’alleanza strategica di 3 anni con la Fondazione Bruno Kessler a partire da luglio 2008. L'obiettivo dell’Alleanza è quello di una ricerca avanzata in case collegate in modo sostenibile, compresi i sottoargomenti di sistemi di energie rinnovabili, architettura sostenibile e anche la sostenibilità sociale ed l’associato sistema di informazione volto ad ottimizzare il comportamento in casa e la vita della gente. Al termine del progetto vogliamo costruire un vero e proprio prototipo di casa sostenibile con nuove tecnologie, materiali ed applicazioni. MIT Mobile Experience Lab mira a reinventare radicalmente e a progettare in modo creativo le connessioni tra le persone, le informazioni e i luoghi fisici al fine di migliorare la vita delle persone attraverso esperienze significative. Con un team multidisciplinare ricerchiamo e progettiamo nuove tecnologie insieme con il loro impatto nella società, negli spazi e nelle comunità.

Breve Biografia

Federico Casalegno è attualmente direttore di MIT Mobile Experience Laboratory [mobile.mit.edu] e direttore associato del Laboratorio di Progettazione di MIT. Ha lavorato come ricercatore presso MIT Media Lab e Smart Cities e poi in Motorola Inc., USA, come analista tecnologico e dell’innovazion, progettando prodotti d'avanguardia, esperienze e servizi per dispositivi mobili aziendali. Il dott. Federico Casalegno è uno scienziato sociale interessato all'impatto delle tecnologie digitali di rete sul comportamento umano e sulle società. Insegna presso MIT, ripensando e progettando media interattivi per promuovere i collegamenti tra persone, idee e luoghi fisici utilizzando tecnologie informatiche d'avanguardia. Ha conseguito un dottorato di ricerca in Sociologia della Cultura e della Comunicazione presso l'Università della Sorbona, Parigi V (luglio 2000), con un focus sulla comunicazione mediata e
sull'interazione sociale in comunità e città in rete.
