Why is a Sustainable Home Important?

Sustainability is a concept that today appears to have lost meaning. It has been folded in infinite ways to serve ecological purposes but also economic ones, social objectives as well as political objectives. Our first task should be to define and precisely state, what do we imply when we say, "Sustainable House?" Is it socially sustainable? Is it ecologically sustainable? Is it related to the environment or to the manufacturing industry and its processes? Is it related to global climate change or to local collective habits? Is it related to technological advances or to traditional means?

Radical sustainability is an emergent critical sustainability that is beyond trends in design or cutting edge technical concepts, but instead promotes new ways of understanding how cities and nature -- built and natural environments -- should integrate as part of larger and more complex eco-urban-systems.
