Re/Active – Innovation in Product, Process, Service in Craftsmanship

How can digital fabrication and interactive materials impact artisanal craftmanship?

Re/Active is a collaborative project between the MIT Mobile Experience Lab and Fondazione Tema of Ente Cassa di Risparmio di Firenze.

Through this project, we aim to combine the knowledge in digital fabrication, digital design and new materials with the traditional craftsmanship methods of Tuscan artisans (ceramic lamps, paper, leather shoes, and textile), by introducing technologies such as 3D printing, CNC milling, 3D scanning, laser cutting, as well as interactive materials.
